What IS Tai Chi Chuan

Gentle Flowing Movements

To most people tai chi just looks like Gentle flowing
movements.

This is what we begin with a thought of “I would like to do
that ” those gentle flowing movements. So we look for a class we can attend and
learn those “gentle flowing movements”.

We begin with some warming up exercises and wonder when the
“gentle flowing movements” are going to begin, come on I want to get started.

We are introduced to breathing yes breathing, so you think ”I know how to breathe I would not be standing hear if I did not know how to breath”.

Then we go on to stances and again we thought we came to learn about “gentle flowing
movements” not standing about in various stances.

Hear it comes relaxing we are going to start those “gentle flowing movements” no we are talking about the mind and the inner stillness of the body, stillness! I want to move, come
on I am relaxed let’s start those “gentle flowing movements”.

Now grounding and connecting our feet, hands and mind together.

Connecting with our centre the TanTien area keeping the body upright and balanced.

Then understanding our inner Chi energy, inner energy hey! where did that come from?.

Li external energy all around us sensing the pressure of the air all around us moving with the movement of others, so now its not just my energy I have to move but now the people around me!.

So I am warmed up, breathing deep, I know my stances, I am relaxed, grounded
and balanced feeling my inner Chi & Li external energy and wow “gentle flowing movements” Many Many Moons later!.

Catalin

Catalin
Catalin is a brand name for a thermosetting polymer popular in the 1930s. Developed when the American Catalin Corporation took over the patents for Bakelite in 1927, Catalin is a cast phenolic which can be worked with files, grinders and cutters and polishes to a fine sheen. Chemically, it is a phenol formaldehyde resin. Catalin has a different manufacturing process (two-stage process) than other types of Bakelite resins (without using fillers such as sawdust or carbon black). Catalin is transparent, near colorless, rather than opaque, brown, so unlike other bakelite phenolics it can be dyed bright colors or even marbled. This has made Catalin more popular than other types of Bakelite. In the 1930-50′s it quickly replaced most plastic consumer goods.

Catalin is heavy, quite greasy in feel and as hard as brass. It is heat resistant and does not soften under boiling water. Like Bakelite it gives off a distinctive phenolic odour when heated

Proving Dalai Lama Wrong

I was trawling through some old notes and came across “The Paradox of Our Age” by the Dalai Lama so I thought about it for a while then came to realise Our Age is not that bad. My Thoughts in Brackets.

We have more degrees but less sence, more knowledge but less judgment,
more experts but more problems, more medicines but less healthiness.(WE NOW HAVE THE OLDEST POPULATION)

We have been all the way to the moon and back but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbours.(WE NOW HAVE NEIGBOURHOOD WATCH)

We build more computers to hold more information to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication. (WE NOW HAVE SOCIAL WEBSITES)

These are times of fast foods but slow digestion.(WE NOW HAVE YACULT)

Tall man but short charecter, steep profits but shallow relationships.(WE NOW HAVE COMIC RELIEF raising £74 million and CHILDREN IN NEED £18 million)
)

H H The XIV Dalai Lama.

Another day in angiewoods online world

No rush to go out  again! in a rather dull slightly warmer Scarborough day so will get to grips with indoor persuits

Having a good look around for info on the LEE LI style of tai chi, some very intresting info out there to what there was a few years ago at http://orb.uk.net/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page

http://www.patrickkellytaiji.com/

will take me a few days to plough through it all, then organise some chunks for me to study.

Have some new saving tins to photo and put up on the www.giftology.co.uk web site and then to start on my long lost idea of creating my own web site www.taichiworkshops.co.uk

May start with another coffee to kick the brain into action
